Sovico Plans to Invest in Major Projects around Long Thanh Airport and Can Tho City

Sovico Group has proposed a series of investments in several provinces, including logistics services, real estate projects, smart cities, high-tech aviation industrial parks, and more in the vicinity of Long Thanh Airport (Dong Nai), as well as a new urban area spanning over 900 hectares in Can Tho City.
Recently, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung – Chairman of the Board of Sovico Group, had a meeting with the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province to explore investment opportunities in the region. Speaking about this, he mentioned that by 2027, the aviation transport company Vietjet (a subsidiary of Sovico Group) is expected to expand its fleet from 100 aircraft to 400 aircraft. Therefore, Sovico wishes to cooperate with the province and related agencies to facilitate the investment of socialized infrastructure to support the airport’s operations, such as aircraft maintenance services, housing for pilots, fuel storage, catering services, etc.
At the same time, Sovico also aims to explore opportunities in the surrounding area of the airport to invest in logistics services, real estate projects, smart cities, high-tech aviation industrial parks, etc. In response to the proposal, Dong Nai Province has expressed willingness to support businesses in exploring and investing in projects based on fair competition, in accordance with the approved overall planning. “To proceed with the next steps, Sovico Group needs to establish a working group to exchange information with relevant departments, based on which projects can be proposed for development in the most reasonable way,” said Mr. Cao Tien Dung, Chairman of Dong Nai Province People’s Committee.
After proposing the development of a smart city near Long Thanh Airport, Sovico continued to propose investing in a new urban area spanning more than 900 hectares in Can Tho City. Specifically, Sovico intends to invest in the Can Tho Aviation Logistics Center project in Binh Thuy District. The project will cover about 50 hectares and include main functional areas such as warehouses, cargo terminals, distribution centers, aviation service support centers, and more. In addition, the company plans to develop a cargo terminal at Can Tho Airport to export agricultural products, seafood, and fruits via air transport, connecting with logistics warehouses to serve the export growth of the Mekong Delta region and open additional domestic and international routes from Can Tho.
